Designing Meaningful Interactions: Rough Prototype

Assignment: Design a physical object that can sit on a desk that allows a user to count up or down (one object accomplished both behaviors). The target audience is someone who wants to keep a numeric tally and have a physical reminder of their progress to display for themselves and others on their desk.

After reading The Psychologist’s View of UX Design, I went back to the drawing board and decided to try something that was both simple and that was intuitive. I knew that I wanted something that definitely tactile, and that was (hopefully) satisfying to use. With these thoughts in mind, I started sketching out ideas, and decided I liked the look and feel of an abacus like object. I thought that it could be easily understood, used for both personas, and the final prototype could be made with high end materials fairly easily.
